Puzzle Card - Birthday Monkey

Hello,

I'm back on my blog after a long time! Those who follow me on Instagram and Facebook would have seen my update - I've been totally occupied with my newborn son :) Crafting has taken a back seat, but I did squeeze in time for this awesome chance to guest design at AAA Birthday Card Challenges!

This month, the theme is 'For A Child' and I have created a puzzle card with an adorable monkey :) I'm sure it will be a fun card for any kid!



I wanted the puzzle to be a one layer card, so I started with an A2 sized white cardstock, and masked the 4 sides with masking tape, to give a border. I then stamped this cute monkey from Sunny Studios Love Monkey stamp set using Altenew Obsidian black ink. I've colored the image using Arteza real brush pens. 


Once the monkey was done, I masked the image and started working on the background. I've used the clouds stencil from Craftyscrappers - Create A Scene set, and blended in a rainbow fashion using distress inks. I also stamped a few hearts and the sentiment from the Love Monkey stamp set. Once done, I removed the masking tape and felt something was missing. So I added another black border using brush pens by masking another small border.


All that was left was to turn this one layer card into a puzzle. I ran this through my die cutting machine using the Pink and Main puzzle die and it gave out the beautiful puzzle pieces. To make the puzzle stronger, I ran another set of diecuts from white cardstock and glued each piece individually. That completes my card :)
