Puzzle Birthday Invites
Hello,
Now that I have shared the card I made for my daughter's birthday here, it is also time to share the invites I prepared for the party!
I wanted the invites to be different, and going through my dies stash, I spotted the Puzzle die from Pink & Main. It was one die I got attracted to on the first look, but never used! Now that struck an idea, it is going to be an invite and a fun game for kids! :)
My daughter loves the Paw Patrol shows on the TV and I took it as the theme. I found a high resolution pic on the internet, and edited it to add the invite message. I then got 4x6 photo prints of them, all excited to get them made into puzzles!
Now starts the fun part! I adhered one of the photos to a scrap piece cut from cereal box using liquid glue. Cereal box adds some weight so the pieces don't bend while playing. I chose liquid glue over tape runner to ensure strong bonding so that when the cardstock is cut into puzzle pieces, they hold together stronger. I ran the thick layers through the Gemini Junior diecutting machine, but I was in for a disappointment. It didn't cut through the layers, maybe because of the photo paper and thick cardboard. I tried running it through multiple times with different levels of shims and cardstocks to increase the pressure, but gave up at one point afraid I would spoil the machine!
So the next option and only idea I could think of, with just 2 days to her birthday, was to diecut the photo and the base separately and stick the pieces one by one. Believe me, that was what I did! Diecutting was quicker in one move for each, but carefully sticking every piece of the puzzle took me an hour each! :) And as always, it is sheer satisfaction and joy once the job is well done! :)
Along with the party invites, I made one for my daughter too without the message, and she completed the puzzle in less than 5 minutes! :)
And the kids found the puzzle interesting and so fun, while moms were surprised by the creative invites :) What else do you need as a crafter! I was overjoyed :)

DeleteThank you so much for sharing your project and creativity at 613! I can understand how the kids and parents must have loved this idea! Most of all - I feel your pain over the construction - how frustrating & exhausting gluing all those pieces on the matching cardboard! Arrrrggghhhh! Well done with your results though, Karthikha!
