Home Decor - DIY Flower Vase from Salt Canister
Hello,
I've been quite busy this month, couldn't get to crafting for a while. So, I finally sat down and made a project for Altenew's Inspiration challenge.
Alert: Picture heavy post! :)
Any guesses as to what I made? I'm sure you must have read the title :) So here is the transformation - a normal salt canister to a beautiful flower vase!
All colored cardstocks used here are custom made from Altenew inks. I started with white cardstock, colored it completely with Citrus Burst ink using ink blending tool and wrapped around the box, as a base layer.
For the next layer, I die-cut 2 pieces of Dodec cover die and blended it with Sapphire ink. These 2 were stuck over the yellow base, there was a small overlap at one end, which I covered later.
For the top part of the box, I wanted to use pink lace when I realized I had the Lacy Edges die! So there it goes! 2 pieces of lace die-cut, blended with Coral Berry ink.
Once the base was ready, all I had to do was die-cut a lot of flowers and leaves using the Layered Floral Elements die set. I colored them with inks according to layers and attached them to the box. It was a great way to use up all my tiny scraps, and get flowers out of them :)
Pretty simple to explain, but it took a lot of time :) Here are the detailed pics for you!

I had these beautiful dried hydrangeas gifted by a colleague, and now they found the perfect vase! :)
This was the starting side without the overlap of die-cuts. I covered the overlap with the flowers :)
