Thanksgiving Favor Boxes for Teachers

Hello,

With Thanksgiving around the corner, I am still behind in creating cards!! My daughter's pre-school is closing for Thanksgiving week and I had to quickly create these 2 favor boxes for her teachers!

I was inspired by the favor boxes Candice Crawford created at Poppy Stamps. Check out the blog post here

I started by making the base of the card from cereal boxes. If you are a regular follower of my blog, you would know that I hoard all simple day-to-day use stuff and cereal boxes are the top of my list! :) So I cut out the main back base using the largest die from Crealies Patworkzz 03 die set.

Patchworkzz dies no. 3, Stitched patchwork in arc

Based on this base, I cut out other strips with my own measurements to make the box. I used some strong glue and heavyweight items to glue the box and make it sturdy. Once it was dry, I used a free digi paper with orange and brown stripes that was perfect for fall, to wrap around the box. Again, all measurements were calculated manually and trimmed to perfection.

For the inner lining, I used an off-white cardstock and die cut the base shape again. Using the direct-to-paper technique, applied Craftyscrappers Carrot ink all over and adhered inside the box. I love the random inking using this technique.

To decorate the panel, I die cut a shape from a Sizzie die from cream cardstock and stamped some tiny images from Gina K Designs Tiny Wreath Builder set. The sentiment is stamped, and the teacher's name is hand written. I've again used inks from Craftyscrappers for the stamping. I then die cut some leaves from Poppy Stamps with the same technique as I did in my previous card! Check it out here.

I added bakers twine to make a bow to hold the leaves on the top of the frame. I filled the box with some energy bars and wrapped in clear sheet with a red ribbon bow to complete the gifts :)

Here is a quick video to see them in action.

Oh did I mention? I broke my clear cutting plate of Gemini Junior in the second pass for the base! :( The cereal box was thick and my plates were warped, so I guess that triggered a crack! Now I'm looking at alternate hacks using cutting mats and if it doesn't go well, I've to order new ones soon.
